Robert W Maddox: Born December 14, 1947
Robert began his painting experience at age 8 studying with a
local artist by the name of Frederick Reiniger until graduating from high school in 1966. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts located in Philadelphia, PA, where he studied for four years. While at the academy, he was influenced and inspired by the acclaimed artist and teacher, Hobson Pittman. In 1969, Robert was awarded the prestigious William Emlen Cresson Memorial Traveling scholarship. This award, sponsored by the academy, provided for a summer of travel and study in Europe.
In 1971, He was one of 17 New Jersey artists chosen to exhibit at the New Jersey State Museum, in Trenton New Jersey. Over the years, his work has continued to be influenced by machinery and related mechanical objects. He is represented in the Academy’s permanent collection and also private collections in the Philadelphia, and New York areas.
